India successfully tests K-4 SLBM ballistic missile news In Hindi: Indian Navy on Thursday successfully tested K-4 SLBM for the first time from its nuclear powered submarine INS Arighaat. The range of this missile carrying atomic weapons is 3500 kilometers. This test conducted in the Bay of Bengal is an important milestone in India's defense capabilities as this missile provides the country with a second strike capability. That is, if the situation on land is not good then the country's nuclear triad gives it the power to attack underwater.
The K-4 SLBM is an intermediate-range submarine-launched nuclear ballistic missile. It has been installed in the Arihant class submarines of the Navy. Earlier the Indian Navy was using K-15. But K-4 is a very good, accurate, maneuverable and easy-to-kill missile.
K-4 ballistic missile
The K-4 ballistic missile, designed to be launched from underwater, is a vital asset in India's arsenal. The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) had earlier conducted extensive trials to prepare the missile for its full-range trials to ensure that it met the stringent operational standards required for such strategic weapons.
This successful test further strengthens the operational readiness of INS Arighat, which was commissioned into the Indian Navy just a few months ago in August 2024.
