There are two wicketkeepers in this team, in which Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan have been included. Ishan Kishan has returned to the team after 2 years.

Ishaan had performed brilliantly in the recent SMAT. Whereas Shubman Gill has not been included in the World Cup team. Gill has not been in good form in this shorter format for some time now. After returning from injury, Gill could not maintain his old rhythm and had to suffer the consequences for it. Rinku Singh has also been included in the World Cup team.

Suryakumar Yadav (captain), Axar Patel (vice-captain), Abhishek Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Tilak Verma, Shivam Dubey, Sanju Samson (wicketkeeper), Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakraborty, Jasprit Bumrah, Washington Sundar, Arshdeep Singh, Rinku Singh, Harshit Rana, Ishan Kishan.

This team will play against New Zealand

BCCI has said that this team will also play a 5-match T20 series with New Zealand. In the absence of Shubman, Sanju and Abhishek will take over the responsibility of opening.
