India thump Pakistan by 61 runs to qualify for the Super 8 stage, make it 8-1 against arch rivals

India once again thumped Pakistan in the global tournament. The defending champions registered a 61-run win over arch-rivals to qualify for the Super 8 stage of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. Chasing 176, the Men in Green were dismissed for 114 runs in 18 overs.

Sahibzada Farhan (0), Saim Ayub (6), Salman Ali Agha (4), Babar Azam (5) were undone by the Indian bowlers. It was only Usman Khan, who looked settled in the middle, amassing 44 runs off 34 deliveries, laced with 6 boundaries and 1 six.

Shadab Khan (14) and Mohammad Nawaz (4) were unable to contribute with the bat. Jasprit Bumrah (2 wickets), Hardik Pandya, Varun Chakravarthy (2 wickets), and Axar Patel (2 wickets) were magnificent. Kuldeep Yadav and Tilak dismissed one batter each.

Earlier, Ishan Kishan’s innings made the difference. He accumulated 77 runs off 40 balls, laced with 10 fours and 3 sixes, which played a key role in India’s total of 175/7. Although Suryakumar Yadav (32), Shivam Dube (27) and Tilak (25 off 24) were also among the runs, it was Ishan who made the difference.

Ayub picked up three scalps, while Salman, Shaheen Afridi and Usman Tariq claimed 1 wicket each.

India are 8-1 ahead against Pakistan in the history of the ICC T20 World Cup.
