India-UK economic partnership will get new strength: Piyush Goyal

London, 27 June. Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Saturday said he had a fruitful roundtable meeting with Asia House and senior executives of the world’s leading companies, in which detailed discussions were held on strengthening the India-UK economic partnership and future opportunities. He said that India’s strong manufacturing ecosystem and immense opportunities in various sectors are attracting global investors.

India-UK calls CETA a new basis for partnership

Piyush Goyal said on social media platform ‘X’ that during the meeting, India’s strong manufacturing ecosystem and investment opportunities available in various sectors were highlighted. He said that the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) will give new strength to the strategic and economic partnership of the two countries.

Investment discussions with UK-India Business Council

The Commerce Minister also held an interactive lunch meeting with members of the UK-India Business Council (UKIBC). During this, India-UK economic cooperation, increasing investment and new business opportunities were discussed with top executives of the world’s leading companies. He said that special emphasis was laid on strengthening India’s global competitiveness by deepening cooperation.

Emphasis on education and innovation at London Business School

Piyush Goyal addressed faculty, students, alumni and industry representatives at the London Business School. He also took part in a special fireside chat. He said that education has an important role in strengthening the relations between India and Britain. Students, professionals and entrepreneurs can further strengthen collaboration, innovation and people-to-people ties between the two countries.

160 Goyal reached Britain with more than 100 Indian companies

Commerce Minister Goyal has arrived in Britain with one of India’s largest ever business delegations. This delegation includes more than 160 leading Indian companies, whose objective is to further strengthen the historic economic partnership of the two countries at the grassroots level. He said that the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), which will come into force from July 15, 2026, will add a new chapter to the relations between the two countries and open new opportunities for development.

Best wishes to Indian women’s cricket team

Piyush Goyal also participated in the welcome ceremony of the Indian women’s cricket team. He said that the team is becoming an inspiration for millions of young girls, players and the entire country with its brilliant performance, determination and excellence. While wishing the team all the best for the Women’s T20 World Cup, he expressed confidence that the Indian team will bring glory to the country by winning the World Cup trophy.
