India v England, 2nd T20I: TNCA offers free metro travel for ticket holders in Chennai

New Delhi: The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) announced free metro travel for the ticket holders of the second T20I match between India and England at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The five-match T20I series starts in Kolkata on Wednesday, January 22, and will move to Chennai for the second game on Saturday.

The Chepauk Stadium is expected to be packed for the Saturday match as tickets for the second T20I have been sold out. The Chennai Metro Rail and TNCA had previously offered free metro service for ticket holders during IPL 2023 matchdays. This move aims to ease traffic congestion around the iconic stadium. The MA Chidambaram stadium is set to host the first white-ball match since the 2023 ODI World Cup.

Focus on Mohammed Shami’s comeback in First T20I

Team India will start their white-ball season after the disappointing results in Test cricket. The Men in Blue lost consecutive Test series against New Zealand at home and Australia. They have also failed to qualify for the final of the World Test Championship (WTC). But, the defending T20 World Cup champions have been in sensational form in the shortest format. They defeated Bangladesh and South Africa in South Africa last year.

Suryakumar Yadav and Co. arrived in Kolkata on Saturday and held a three-day training camp ahead of the first T20I. Mohammed Shami is making his international comeback after more than a year. He last played for India during the 2023 ODI World World Cup final against Australia in November.

The Indian bowlers practised with the wet ball on Tuesday evening as dew is expected during the first T20I match in Kolkata. The Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav also said that if players know there is going to be heavy dew during the match, they start preparing with the wet ball and these are things they can control as a team.

“We try to control all those factors during practice sessions so that, when the game comes, we are prepared” India captain Suryakumar Yadav said on the eve of the first T20I.
