Delhi: The Indian T20 team for the T20I series 2025 against England has been announced and while choosing the team, the selectors have indicated a lot about their future thinking. The series of 5 T20 matches will start from January 22 in Kolkata and before that the question arises that what could be the possible XI of India for this match –
Opener: Sanju Samson, who scored the most runs for Team India in T20 cricket last year, will be an opener as well as a wicketkeeper. The second opener will be Abhishek Sharma and the team will hope that he will play even better than the form he showed against South Africa. His Khabbu orthodox bowling will also come in handy. Anyway, the selectors did not choose any other opener, so he will play in this role.
Other batsmen: Suryakumar Yadav will be the captain and bat at number 3. Nitish Kumar Reddy has also been included in the team on the basis of his Border-Gavaskar Trophy form and he will now get a chance to further strengthen his T20 career. Tilak Verma's strike rate in the 20 T20 Internationals played so far is 161+. However, England's bowlers will stop his stroke play and this will be a challenge for Tilak. He is also a useful off-break bowler and will be useful to the team. The matter will be stuck on Tilak Verma's number in the batting order. The 100 that Tilak scored in the last two T20s against South Africa was at number 3. Now the captain will have to take this decision.
Allrounder: Both Hardik Pandya and Rinku Singh are adept at increasing the strike rate and are also useful bowlers. The matches of this series are very special for Rinku because there is a slight pause in her career graph and she will have to come into the role of playing some long innings.
Fast bowler: A special name in the pace attack will be that of Mohammed Shami who will return to international cricket after about 14 months. Last played in the 2023 ODI World Cup final in Ahmedabad. Shami's fitness and form will also be an indication of his place in Team India's plans for the future. Although he has played only 23 T20 International matches so far, this time he will definitely be in the team. Injured Jasprit Bumrah is out of the team and in such a situation the team has great expectations from Shami. Spinner: This duty will present a tough competition between Ravi Bishnoi and mysterious spinner Varun Chakraborty but for now, Varun will be the favorite in this first match. Akshar Patel is there in this list and he is also the vice captain.
