India vs England 2nd T20I: India’s Old Trafford Record, Stats and Historic Moments

India and England will meet at Old Trafford in Manchester for the second T20I of their five-match series on Saturday, July 4. Both teams will be looking to get off the mark as neither could complete the first match due to incessant rain in Chester-le-Street.

Having drawn the opening encounter, Shreyas Iyer’s men will be looking to build on the scoring rate that they displayed before the rain interruption. While England looks to get back on the winning track at one of their best T20I grounds, India will be eager to build on their strong batting performance.

India’s Mixed History at Old Trafford

Although India has faced T20I opponents in all four corners of the globe, they have had only two encounters in the format at Old Trafford. However, the home of cricket has provided the Indian team with no shortage of thrilling moments.

First, in 2011, Rahul Dravid made fans go crazy with his unbeaten 36 from four balls faced as he hit Samit Patel for three consecutive sixes in his debut T20I.

Seven years later, KL Rahul made one of the best T20I centuries by an Indian on English soil, scoring an unbeaten century as his side chased down 160 with ease after the sensational five-wicket haul by Kuldeep Yadav.

As for England, it is no surprise that they have an impeccable record at their home ground. Only three of their 13 T20I matches at Old Trafford have ended in defeat, which makes Manchester the fortress for the Three Lions in the shortest format.

This time, their heroics in their recent T20I at Old Trafford saw them record the first-ever score over 300 runs against a Full Member in men’s T20Is. A stunning 141 from Phil Salt, who faced only 60 deliveries, saw England post a phenomenal 304 against South Africa.

India will aim to create their own memories at Old Trafford in the T20I against England, while the hosts seek to build on their incredible record at their home ground.
