Video-IND vs ENG: Rohit Sharma is sweating alone in London for the England series, very close to breaking the record of veteran Inzamam.
London: Indian cricket team’s ace batsman Rohit Sharma has geared up for the three-match ODI series against England. There is still time for the series to start, but Rohit has reached London about a week before the rest of the team. He is sweating profusely in the nets against the local club bowlers there. 39-year-old Rohit now plays only ODI format for India, due to which there is a long gap between his matches. This is the reason why he does not want to take any risk on this tour and is busy keeping himself completely match fit. In the free time left after practice, Rohit is also meeting some of his old friends there.

Actually, during IPL 2026, Rohit Sharma was troubled by hamstring injury due to which he had to miss many important matches. But as soon as he returned after recovering from injury, he batted brilliantly in the ODI series against Afghanistan. He scored a total of 143 runs in three innings, which included an explosive inning of 79 runs in 69 balls during the third ODI.
Hitman’s record on the soil of England is very tremendous
If we talk about records, Rohit Sharma has always liked the pitches of England. He has played 27 innings so far on English soil and has scored 1,428 runs at an excellent average of around 65. During this period, he has scored 7 centuries and 7 half-centuries. If we look at his ODI record only against the England team, he has scored 846 runs at an average of 47, which includes 3 centuries and 4 half centuries.
Only this many runs are needed to defeat Inzamam-ul-Haq
This series has brought an opportunity for Rohit Sharma to create another big record. Rohit now needs only 20 runs to break the record of former Pakistani batsman Inzamam-ul-Haq in ODI cricket.

While Inzamam has 11,739 runs in his name in ODIs, Rohit Sharma has so far scored 11,720 runs in 277 innings of 285 ODI matches. Rohit’s average is 48.83 and he has scored 33 centuries and 62 half-centuries. The most important thing is that among all the batsmen in the world who have scored more than 10 thousand ODI runs, Rohit Sharma’s strike rate (92.97) is the best. The first ODI match of the series against England will be played in Edgbaston, where Virat Kohli will also join the team. Virat was also not able to be a part of the Afghanistan series due to hamstring injury, but now he is completely fit. The second match of the series will be held in Cardiff on 16 July, while the last match will be played on 19 July at the historic Lord’s ground in London. Once again the entire responsibility of Indian batting is going to be on the shoulders of this most experienced pair of Rohit and Virat.
