expressed displeasure at the demonstration
The former cricketer described the performance of the Indian team as disappointing and said that no excuse can be accepted for this defeat. He said that except Abhishek Sharma’s quick inning of 49 runs in 19 balls, no batsman including captain Shreyas Iyer could play a long innings. Shreyas Iyer could face only 7 balls.
Questions raised on impact player rules and fielding
Sadagopan Ramesh also raised questions on the fielding of Team India. He said that despite playing T20 cricket continuously, there is no improvement in the fielding of the players. According to him, some shortcomings can be hidden due to the impact player rule in IPL, but in international cricket, excellent fielding is necessary to retain a place in the playing eleven.
He also said that such performance cannot be expected from a team that wins the T20 World Cup and then plays T20 cricket for a long time.
