India vs New Zealand 2nd Test: By the end of the second day's play of the second Test being played at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Friday, New Zealand has taken a strong lead of 301 runs over India. The visiting team's left arm spinner Mitchell Santner gave a career-best performance and bundled out the Indian team for 156 runs.

Captain Tom Latham's half-century and the excellent partnerships of New Zealand's batsmen have pushed India on the back foot. India lost several wickets at the beginning of the second day and were seen struggling against the brilliant spin of Mitchell Santner.

Santner's brilliant performance

On the second day, India started the game with the score of 16/1, but Mitchell Santner badly shook the Indian batting in the very first session. Opener Shubman Gill (30) became the first wicket of the day. After this, Santner put India in deep trouble by dismissing Virat Kohli for just 1 run. Ravindra Jadeja scored the highest score of 38 runs but Santner dismissed him too. The entire Indian team was reduced to 156 runs and New Zealand got a lead of 103 runs.

Tom Latham's half century

In the second innings, Tom Latham played a brilliant inning of 86 runs for New Zealand. Latham formed useful partnerships with Will Young (23) and Devon Conway (17). For India, Washington Sundar and Ashwin took some important wickets but the Kiwi team kept scoring runs continuously.

Tough challenge for India

By the end of the day's play, New Zealand had scored 198 runs after losing 5 wickets, taking their total lead to 301 runs. Tom Blundell (30*) and Glenn Phillips (9*) are present at the crease. Now achieving this big lead in the next three days may prove to be a difficult challenge for India.
