IND vs SA: Will we get the money back if the fourth T20 is cancelled? BCCI gave big update on refund
BCCI breaks silence on ticket refunds: The fourth match of the 5-match T20 series being played between India and South Africa was to be played on December 17 at Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. There was a lot of excitement among the fans about this match, but dense fog spoiled the whole game. The situation became such that neither a toss could take place nor even a single ball could be bowled. The match was scheduled to start at 7 pm, but at around 9:30 pm the umpires decided to cancel the match.
Inspection was done several times due to fog
Before the match, the umpires inspected the field several times. Initially there was hope that the fog might clear up, but as time passed the situation worsened. Visibility was extremely low, increasing concerns about the safety of the players. Ultimately the umpires decided to cancel the match keeping the rules in mind.
BCCI’s statement regarding ticket refund
After the cancellation of the match, the biggest question in the minds of the fans was whether they would get the ticket money back or not. The situation on this has been clarified by the Board of Control for Cricket in India i.e. BCCI. As per BCCI policy, if a match is abandoned without a single ball being bowled, ticket holders are entitled to a refund after deducting the service charge.
The decision on refund is in the hands of the state union.
BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia told news agency INS that the decision related to ticket refund comes under the jurisdiction of the host state association. He said that the Lucknow match was being hosted by Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA). Ticket sales, refunds and all related arrangements are handled by the state association itself. BCCI only gives the hosting rights, the rest is the responsibility of the state association.
India got the lead in the series
Despite the cancellation of the match, the Indian team remains ahead 2-1 in the series. The first T20 match was won by India, while South Africa won the second match. In the third match, Team India performed brilliantly and took the lead in the series. Now the fifth and last match to be played in Ahmedabad on 19th December will be very important.
