India vs West Indies, Abhishek Sharma: In the T20 World Cup 2026, Indian team’s young opener Abhishek Sharma once again failed to play a big innings. He was expected to make a fast start in the important Super-8 match against West Indies, but his bat remained silent. Team India, which was chasing the target of 196 runs, got its first blow at the score of 29 runs, when Abhishek was out after scoring just 10 runs.
Abhishek’s performance in this tournament has been full of ups and downs. After being out for zero in three consecutive matches, he made a comeback by scoring a half-century against Zimbabwe, but he could not maintain the rhythm in this match.
West Indies made a strong score of 195 runs
After losing the toss, West Indies team came to bat first and scored 195 runs after losing 4 wickets in 20 overs. Captain Shai Hope and Roston Chase gave a great start to the team. Both the batsmen kept the pressure on the Indian bowlers by playing at a fast run rate. Hope scored 32 runs in 33 balls, while Roston Chase scored 40 runs in just 25 balls in an aggressive manner. After this, Shimron Hetmyer also batted fast and took the score to a strong position by scoring 27 runs in 12 balls.
Powell and Holder did a spectacular finish
In the last overs of the innings, Rovman Powell and Jason Holder completely changed the course of the match by explosive batting. There was a partnership of 76 runs between the two for the fifth wicket in just 35 balls. Holder scored unbeaten 37 runs in 22 balls, which included two fours and three sixes. Whereas Powell played a quick inning of 34 runs in 19 balls and took the team to a strong score of 195.

Jasprit Bumrah was the most successful bowler for India, taking two wickets. Apart from this, Hardik Pandya and Varun Chakraborty got one success each. However, Indian bowlers were not successful in stopping the runs in the death overs, of which West Indies took advantage.
