‘India was defeated on the very first day’, former Chief Minister and Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan gave controversial statement regarding Operation Sindoor.
Mumbai: A statement by senior Congress leader and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan has created a new controversy in the country’s politics. Recently, he has made such claims regarding Operation Sindoor, on which the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party has expressed strong objection. While there is uneasiness within the Congress regarding Chavan’s statement, the BJP is terming it as demoralizing to the army.
Chavan’s controversial claim on Operation Sindoor
Prithviraj Chavan said that India suffered heavy losses on the very first day of Operation Sindoor. According to him, the Indian Air Force suffered serious damage in the air clash that lasted for about half an hour on May 7. He claimed that during this period, Indian fighter planes were damaged and the Air Force could not effectively participate in the operation.
Chavan also said that this truth was not fully presented to the country. They allege that the government has hidden many important facts related to military developments, whereas it is not unusual to suffer losses in war or military action.
The government is suppressing the truth
The former Chief Minister said that the strategic lapse at the army level has been accepted internally, but the political leadership is not talking openly about it. He said that in a democracy, it is the responsibility of the government to tell the truth to the public and not just present a picture of success. He also said that there have been reports in the foreign media about India suffering more losses than expected, on which the government should give a clear answer.
Serious allegations regarding China and Pakistan
Chavan also raised questions on China’s role in this entire incident. He claimed that with the technical help of China, Pakistan gets information about India’s military activities. According to him, as soon as Indian aircraft take off, information about it reaches Pakistan through China, thereby eliminating India’s strategic “surprise element”.
Questions raised on ceasefire
Referring to the military action of May 10, he said that on that day the Air Force was kept aside and the operation was conducted at the ground level. Despite this, he raised questions on why the ceasefire was suddenly lifted. Chavan claimed that this ceasefire happened under the pressure of former US President Donald Trump, which the current government is not accepting.
BJP’s sharp counterattack
After Chavan’s statement, BJP launched a scathing attack on Congress. Party leaders said that Congress is allergic to the Indian Armed Forces. She repeatedly makes such statements to break the morale of the army. BJP called it against the security of the country and the honor of the soldiers.
