India will get 114 Rafale, Rajnath Singh led committee approved the purchase
An important defense proposal has been approved in the Defense Acquisition Council (DAC) meeting led by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. Under this decision, India will move towards purchasing 114 Rafale fighter aircraft from France. The estimated cost of this big deal is said to be around Rs 32 lakh crore.
Approval to purchase anti-submarine aircraft
According to sources, in this meeting an important proposal for the Indian Navy has also been given the green signal. With the aim of strengthening the Navy’s fleet, approval has been given to purchase 6 P-8I maritime surveillance and anti-submarine aircraft. These aircraft will prove helpful in monitoring maritime borders, identifying enemy submarines and enhancing long-range reconnaissance capabilities.
Rafale fighter aircraft are manufactured by France’s leading aerospace company Dassault Aviation. These are multirole fighter jets equipped with state-of-the-art technology, which are capable of accurate air-to-air and air-to-ground attacks. The Indian Air Force has already included 36 Rafale aircraft in its fleet, which are playing an important role as per the strategic needs of the country.
Indian Air Force is operating two Rafale squadrons
The first five Rafale aircraft received by India reached Ambala airbase in Haryana in July 2020. After this he was formally inducted into the Air Force. Currently the Indian Air Force is operating two Rafale squadrons. The first was 17 Squadron, known as the ‘Golden Arrows’. He is posted in Ambala. The second 101 squadron named ‘Falcon’ is working at Hasimara airbase in West Bengal.
In July 2021, Rafale aircraft were formally inducted into 101 Squadron. Now the possible purchase of 114 new Rafale aircraft is expected to further strengthen the Air Force’s firepower, quick response and border surveillance strength. This deal is considered to give a new direction to India’s defense preparedness.
