India will not stop buying oil from us… Russia’s response to Trump’s claim

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that only US President Donald Trump is making this claim that India will stop buying oil from Russia. Lavrov said that there is no threat to the oil agreements between Russia and India.

India has also given a statement on this issue

This statement of Lavrov came at a time when India also gave clarification on this issue. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that India will buy crude oil from different countries as per its need. He said that India will continue to diversify sources to keep the supply chain stable. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal also said that energy security of 1.4 billion people is the top priority of the government. He also said that all India’s agreements with Russia continue as before.

In August 2025, America had imposed 25% additional tariff on India because India was buying oil from Russia. Later this tariff was withdrawn. However, the US warned that if India resumed purchasing Russian oil directly or indirectly, the 25% tariff could be reimposed.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has given a statement regarding the purchase of Russian oil from India. He said that only US President Donald Trump is claiming that India will stop buying oil from Russia. No one else has said this except Trump. According to Lavrov, the oil and other agreements signed between Russia and India are completely safe and there is no threat to them.

Last week, Trump had announced a framework trade agreement with India. At the same time he claimed that India has agreed not to buy crude oil from Russia. America alleges that Russia uses the money it earns from selling oil in the war against Ukraine.

Lavrov accused America

Lavrov accused America of trying to stop Russia’s trade, investment and military cooperation with India and BRICS countries. He said that America wants to maintain its dominance in the world through tariffs, sanctions and pressure measures. Lavrov said that after the arrival of the Trump administration, this policy is visible more openly.
