India will not write the names of beggars on its jersey, outcry over Champions Trophy

New Delhi: Champions Trophy 2025 will be held in Pakistan, but the Indian team will play all the matches of the tournament in Dubai. Pakistan will be the official host of the tournament, but the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has refused to send the team to Pakistan. Subsequently, in view of the cricketing ties between the two countries, a hybrid model was adopted for India, in which the matches would be played in Dubai. Now a new report has come out, in which it has been told that Pakistan's name will not be on India's jersey.

The name of the host country is written on the jerseys of all teams.

Generally, in tournaments organized by the ICC (International Cricket Council), the name of the host country is written on the jerseys of all the teams. For example, when West Indies and USA hosted the T20 World Cup in June 2024, all the teams had the names of these two countries on their jerseys. But in the Champions Trophy 2025, Pakistan's name will not be written on India's jersey despite Pakistan being the host.

PCB responded

An official of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) reacted to this decision. He said that BCCI is dragging politics into cricket, which is not good for the game. The official also said that BCCI had earlier refused to go to Pakistan, and now according to reports, India does not want Pakistan's name on its jersey. However, the official also said that he is sure that the ICC will intervene in the matter and take a decision in support of Pakistan. He believes that cricket should be kept above politics and these decisions may be against the spirit of the game.

India's first match will be against Bangladesh on 20 February.

Champions Trophy 2025 will start from 19th February and India's first match will be against Bangladesh on 20th February. During this tournament, the Indian team will have to prove its cricketing ability despite the controversies surrounding Pakistan's name. Thus, the impact of the internal policies of the Sports Ministry of India and the Cricket Board will be seen on the tournament.
