New Delhi: Sports Minister Anurag Thakur made a big announcement on Tuesday saying that India will stake claim to host the Olympic Games. Giving information, the Union Minister said that the Government of India wants to host the Youth Summer Olympics 2029 and Summer Olympics 2036. Anurag Thakur further said that India is also going to organize the 2030 Commonwealth Games. The Sports Minister has claimed that by 2047, India will be among the first 5 medal winners in the world.
Anurag Thakur said that India will have to make hard efforts to get the opportunity to host the 2036 Olympic Games. If this happens then the morale of the players will increase even more. Praising the Modi government, he said that from 2014 to 2025, big steps were taken for the youth of India. PM Modi said from the first day that he will not let anything happen to the players and sports.
Anurag Thakur said that the National Games were closed for 8 years from 2015. Modi government organized three back to back games. Under the leadership of BJP, new sports events were organized, new centers of Khelo India were started. About 1100 former athletes have been appointed as coaches. The status of the sports institute in Gwalior increased. Target Olympic Scheme launched. Under which the government bears all the expenses of the player playing, staying, going abroad and training. Players are also given pocket money up to Rs 6 lakh.
