New Delhi: National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval had a conversation with China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi. A few days later, India said on Friday that it would work with China to take forward the agreement reached between the two sides. On the border issue between India and China, Special Representatives (SR) Doval and Wang held extensive talks in Beijing on Wednesday under the SR dialogue mechanism after five years.
The talks come weeks after India and China completed the withdrawal of troops from Demchok and Depsang, the two last points of the standoff in eastern Ladakh. The withdrawal effectively ends the more than four-year-long border standoff in the region.

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said both sides expressed their commitment to explore a fair, reasonable and mutually acceptable framework for the resolution of the boundary question in accordance with the political parameters and guiding principles agreed upon in 2005. has confirmed. Jaiswal said that apart from discussing the modalities for resolution of the border question, the Special Representatives also comprehensively reviewed the issues of peaceful border management in this round of meetings. An Indian statement said Doval and Wang in the talks gave positive directions for cross-border cooperation and exchanges, including resumption of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, sharing of data on cross-border rivers and border trade.

Jaiswal said this means that the discussions have moved in a positive direction and thereafter whatever is necessary will be done to take forward cross-border exchanges. On the possibility of resumption of full trade relations between the two sides, Jaiswal said that since October there have been several meetings between the two sides, including those at the highest level. The decision to revive the Special Representative dialogue mechanism was taken in the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Kazan on October 23.
