India completed a dominant 5-0 clean sweep over Sri Lanka in the T20I series, clinching a 15-run victory in the fifth and final match at Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. This marks their third 5-0 series win in T20Is, with previous whitewashes over the West Indies in 2019 (away) and Bangladesh in 2024 (away).
India, having recently triumphed in the ODI World Cup on home soil with a victory over South Africa in the final, is now turning its attention to the T20 World Cup 2026. However, the Women in Blue experienced an early exit in the previous edition of the tournament in 2024, after suffering losses to New Zealand and Australia.
Under Harmanpreet Kaur’s captaincy, the Indian women’s cricket team has remained undefeated in their recent series, defeating the West Indies (2–1), England (3–2), and Sri Lanka (5–0). India’s upcoming fixtures against Australia in February 2026 and England in May 2026 will be crucial as they finalize their preparations for the T20 World Cup. Following their groundbreaking World Cup triumph on home soil, which broke their ICC trophy drought, the Women in Blue are now facing heightened expectations.
