“India would have lost all three Test matches against Australia if Jasprit Bumrah was not there”: Ex-player hails magician speedster
The five-Test series between India and Australia is levelled 1-1, with two matches left in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Jasprit Bumrah has been the best bowler from both sides in the three contests so far and claimed scalps of the top batters. He has picked up 21 wickets and is the biggest threat for the Pat Cummins-led team. Former player Aakash Chopra has saluted the greatness of the pacer, calling him a magician and miracle.
“Jasprit Bumrah is different. There are players whom you don’t appreciate in the starting. If Jasprit Bumrah were not there, India would have been 0-3 behind by now. Forget about winning or leveling the series; India would have been way behind. He is number one on every list and is a different kind of bowler.
“He is a magician, maverick, and miracle. Give him a new or the ball bold, and he will wickets. The fast bowlers don’t have impressive bowling figures in India, but Bumrah has. Be it England, South Africa or Australia, Bumrah can take wickets anywhere in the world,” he said.
Aakash called him one of the greatest of all time.
“For me, Jasprit Bumrah is already one of the greatest of all time. He had surgery, and we were doubting whether he would be able to return to his best, but he has proved everyone wrong. He is performing better than what he was doing before,” he added.
Chopra narrated a story of Bumrah’s hardships. “His mother was not able to buy him Nike Shoes because of the financial hardships after the passing away of his father. He didn’t say anything, and now the whole world is lying on his feet. I am glad that you happened to cricket,” he concluded.
