India,China agreed on border patrolling on LAC BRICS summit News In Hindi: India and China have reached an agreement on LAC issues and both sides have agreed to resume patrolling, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri told a special press conference on Monday. This was confirmed during the talks. Misri said during a press conference, “As a result of the discussions held over the past several weeks, an agreement has been reached on patrolling arrangements along the Line of Actual Control in the India-China border areas. And, this is leading to the withdrawal of troops and ultimately “The issues that have arisen in these areas in 2020 are being resolved.”

India-China border tension

A standoff continues between Indian and Chinese troops at some friction points in eastern Ladakh, even as both sides have disengaged troops from several areas following extensive diplomatic and military talks. India has been saying that unless there is peace in the border areas, its relations with China cannot be normal. Although lengthy talks resulted in mutual withdrawal of troops from some friction points along the LAC such as Galwan Valley, northern and southern banks of Pangong Tso, Gogra Post and Hot Springs, the standoff is still unresolved.

Big announcement before BRICS summit
This big statement from the Ministry of External Affairs has come a day before Prime Minister Narendra Modi leaves for Russia for the BRICS summit in Kazan city. It is being speculated that Prime Minister Modi will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping – although there is no official confirmation from either side. If the two leaders hold a bilateral meeting during the summit, it will give a boost to the ongoing talks on border tensions.
