Indian Athletics Series 2026: Animesh Kujur, Toor and Rohit Yadav shine in Delhi leg
Top Indian athletes delivered a series of strong performances at the third leg of the Indian Athletics Series 2026, held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on Saturday.
Animesh Kujur was among the standout performers, winning the men’s 100m title with a time of 10.28 seconds. He also claimed the 200m event, clocking 20.74 seconds to complete a sprint double. In the men’s 400m, Vishal TK secured first place with a time of 45.44 seconds.
In the field events, two-time Asian Games champion Tajinderpal Singh Toor recorded a season-best throw of 21.03m to win the men’s shot put. The men’s javelin throw saw a competitive contest, with Rohit Yadav emerging on top with a throw of 82.17m. Sachin Yadav (81.95m) and Yashvir Singh (81.61m) also crossed the 80m mark to complete the podium.
Strong performances across Track and Field events
In the women’s competition, Nithya Gandhe won the 100m in 11.59 seconds, while Priyanka Sikarwar topped the 200m event with a time of 23.91 seconds. Rashdeep Kaur secured victory in the 400m, clocking 53.10 seconds.
Promising high jumper Pooja delivered a notable performance, clearing 1.90m to secure gold and register a personal best. In the women’s javelin throw, Shilpa Rani finished first with a throw of 54.29m.
Other notable results included Anu Kumar winning the men’s 800m in 1:49.87 seconds and Shailesh Kushwaha topping the men’s 10,000m event. In the hurdles, Muhammed Lazan and Anjali C emerged winners in the men’s and women’s categories respectively.
