Indian auto industry is excellent and future-oriented: Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Describing the Indian automobile industry as excellent and future-oriented, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that there are many factors which are working to give impetus to the auto sector. Inaugurating the 'India Mobility Global Expo' at Bharat Mandapam here, Modi said that we are working on a mobility system that can support the economy and ecology. He said that the development of the auto sector requires both necessity and aspiration. Both are alive in India. India is going to be the youngest country in the world for many decades to come. These youth are your customers, because they generate huge demand. Your second customer is the middle class. There is a need for a system which can reduce our bill on fossil fuel imports. Therefore, today India is focusing on the development of green technology, EV, hydrogen fuel and biofuels. Modi said that the journey of developed India is also going to be a journey of unprecedented transformation and manifold expansion of the mobility sector. There are many factors promoting mobility, such as the youth population. Steady growth in the middle class. Increase in urbanization. Modern infrastructure. Affordable vehicles through Make in India.
He said that Make in India initiative has played a huge role in the development of auto industry. Make in India initiative has got a boost from the PLI scheme. The scheme has helped in sales of more than Rs 2.25 lakh crore. The scheme has created more than 1.5 lakh direct jobs in the auto sector. The Prime Minister said that making travel easier is a big priority for India. In the last budget, a provision of more than Rs 11 lakh crore was made for the development of infrastructure. Today we are laying a network of multi-lane and highways.
He said that under the 7Cs related to mobility, our mobility solutions should be such that they should be command, connected, convenient, congestion free, charged, clean and cutting edge. We have a lot of focus on the development of such technology. The automotive industry is also innovation driven and technology driven. Be it innovation, tech and skills or demand. The coming time belongs to the East, to Asia, to India.
He said that today's India is full of aspirations, full of youth energy. We see these same aspirations in India's automotive industry. In the last year, India's auto industry has grown at a growth rate of about 12 percent. Following the mantra of Make in India, Make for the World, exports are also increasing now.
Modi said, last time I came among you, the Lok Sabha elections were not far away. During that time, because of your trust, I had said that next time also I will definitely come to 'Bharat Mobility Expo'. The country has blessed us for the third time, you all invited me here, for this I express my gratitude to all of you. He said that this year the scope of India Mobility Expo has increased significantly. Last time, more than 800 exhibitors participated, more than 1.5 lakh people visited. This time, along with Bharat Mandapam, this expo is also going on at Yashobhoomi in Dwarka and India Expo Center in Greater Noida. A large number of people will come here in the coming 5-6 days. Many new vehicles are also going to be launched here. This shows how much positivity there is about the future of mobility in India. Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari, HD Kumaraswamy, Piyush Goyal, Manohar Lal and Jitan Ram Manjhi were also present on this occasion.
