Indian batters rediscover form as India reach 256/4 vs Zimbabwe

Indian batters finally showed their might in a must-win ICC T20 World Cup 2026 match against Zimbabwe, scoring 256/4 in their allotted 20 overs. All the willow holders made useful contributions, with Abhishek Sharma scoring a fifty after four failures. He amassed 55 runs in 30 balls, with the help of 4 fours and 4 sixes.

He added 48 runs with his opening partner, Sanju Samson, who managed 24 runs in 15 balls, laced with 2 sixes and 1 four.

The southpaw then joined hands with Ishan Kishan and the two stitched a 72-run stand for the second wicket, with the latter accumulating 38 runs off 24 balls, hitting 4 fours and 1 maximum.

Captain Suryakumar Yadav also showed his class, taking just 13 balls to score 33 runs. He smashed 3 fours and 2 sixes in his knock. Hardik Pandya (50* off 23) and Tilak Varma ( 44* off 16) provided the finishing touches as the Men in Blue reached 256 in their second game of the second round.

Pandya struck four sixes and 2 fours, while Tilak added 4 sixes and 3 boundaries to the total.

For Zimbabwe, Richard Ngarava, Blessing Muzarabani, Tinotenda Maposa and Sikandar Raza took 1 wicket each.

India and Zimbabwe lost their opening Super 8 fixtures against South Africa and the West Indies.
