Indian community warmly welcomes PM Modi during his visit to Jordan

Oman, 15 December. Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Jordan’s capital Oman on Monday in the first leg of his state visit to three countries (Jordan, Ethiopia and Oman). This full-fledged bilateral visit to Jordan is taking place after a gap of 37 years. This visit of PM Modi is coinciding with the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Members of the Indian community in Oman warmly welcomed PM Modi. Carrying Indian flags and chanting ‘Modi Modi’ along with ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’, Prime Minister Modi was welcomed by members of the Indian community as he arrived at a hotel in Oman from Jordan. People of the Indian community seemed very excited to meet PM Modi. PM Modi greeted the people and interacted with the children who had gathered there to welcome him. He also watched a cultural program at the hotel.

PM Modi said on Twitter, ‘I was very impressed by the warm welcome given by the Indian community. Their affection, pride in India’s progress and strong cultural bonds reflect the enduring bond between India and its diaspora. We are also grateful for the role the expatriate community is playing in strengthening India-Jordan relations.

Jordan’s PM Dr. Jafar Hassan welcomed at the airport

Earlier, PM Modi was warmly welcomed by Jordanian Prime Minister Dr. Jafar Hassan at Oman Airport and greeted him ceremoniously. PM Modi was also given a guard of honor at the airport.

Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Dr. Jafar Hassan for his warm and grand welcome, PM Modi said on the occasion, ‘Thank you to the Prime Minister of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Mr. Jafar Hassan, for the warm welcome at the airport. I am sure that this visit will strengthen bilateral relations between our countries.

Met with Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II

PM Modi has arrived on a state visit to Jordan at the invitation of Jordan’s King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein. PM Modi will hold detailed discussions with Jordanian Prime Minister Jafar Hassan. Before that, PM Modi met Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II.

75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries

The visit coincides with the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and is an opportunity to further strengthen India-Jordan bilateral relations, explore new avenues of cooperation for mutual development and prosperity, and reiterate our commitment to promote regional peace, prosperity, security and stability. This is Prime Minister Modi’s first fully bilateral visit to Jordan, having earlier visited Jordan while visiting Palestine in February 2018.
