Indian cricket team announced for Champions Trophy 2025, four new faces and four players got the price of being out.
The Indian Cricket Board on Saturday announced the Indian team for the Champions Trophy 2025. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar and captain Rohit Sharma announced the team in a press conference. Last time, India had performed brilliantly in an ODI ICC tournament played on home soil in 2023, but lost to Australia in the final. Now, the Indian team has again got a chance to win the ICC tournament in 50-over cricket, and the team has been selected.
However, it is interesting to know how many changes have taken place in the Indian team selected for the last and this time ICC tournaments. After the ODI World Cup 2023, the Indian team has played only two ODI series, but is also scheduled to play a series against England before the Champions Trophy. Four changes have been seen in the team, while 11 players have been successful in retaining their places.
The four players included in the ODI World Cup 2023, who did not get a place in the Champions Trophy squad, are:
- Suryakumar Yadav: He faced criticism due to poor form and is now out of the ODI team, although he is currently the captain of the Indian T20 team.
- Ishan Kishan: He is out of the team due to not following the board's guidelines.
- Shardul Thakur: He has lost his place in all formats.
- Mohammed Siraj: His recent performance was under question, due to which the selectors have dropped him.
New faces have been included in the Champions Trophy team in place of these players:
- Yashasvi Jaiswal: This will be his first ODI.
- Rishabh Pant: He has made a comeback after the road accident and has become a regular member of the team.
- Washington Sundar: Has been included in the team due to recent good performances.
- Arshdeep Singh: He has also got a place in the squad.
