Indian cricketer and KKR star Rinku Singh is set to marry Samajwadi Party MP Priya Saroj after their families finalize the matrimonial alliance, with wedding functions planned around his cricketing schedule.
New Delhi: Indian cricket star Rinku Singh is all set to marry Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Priya Sarojas confirmed by her family. Priya’s father, Tufani Saroan SP MLA from Kerakatrevealed that on January 16, meaningful discussions took place between Rinku’s father and their family in Aligarh, leading to mutual agreement on the marriage.
Tufani Saroj told PTI that no ring ceremony or pre-wedding events have been held yet. He explained that Priya met Rinku Singh through a mutual friend, whose father is also a cricketer. “Rinku and Priya have known each other for over a year, and they both liked each other. However, they needed their families’ approval, which both families have now granted for the marriage,” he added.
Saroj’s father confirmed that the dates for the engagement and wedding will be finalized after the Parliament session, with the engagement planned to take place in Lucknow. Rinku Singh gained widespread recognition during IPL 2023 when he hit Gujarat Titans pacer Yash Dayal for five sixes in an over, leading KKR to a thrilling last-over victory. He was also part of the KKR squad that won IPL 2024 and has since become a regular member of India’s T20I team.
Rinku Singh is part of India’s squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against England, which begins on January 22 in Kolkata. Following this, he will represent Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2025. Saroj’s father emphasized that the wedding functions will be scheduled in a way that does not interfere with Rinku’s cricket commitments. The two families met at Rinku Singh’s residence in Ozone City, Aligarh, where they finalized the marriage with the exchange of ‘shagun’ and gifts.
Priya Saroj, hailing from Varanasi’s Karkhiyaon village, has been a prominent member of the Samajwadi Party (SP) for several years. She was elected to the Lok Sabha from the Machhlishahr constituency in Jaunpur district in 2024. A former Supreme Court lawyer, Priya first gained attention during her father’s campaign for the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. She holds an arts degree from Delhi University and a law degree from Amity University, Noida.
