New Delhi, 27 February 2026: Khanchand Singh, father of Indian cricket team’s aggressive batsman Rinku Singh, died early on Friday morning. He was battling a serious disease like liver cancer for a long time. He breathed his last during treatment at Yathartha Hospital in Greater Noida, which has spread a wave of mourning in the sports world including Rinku Singh’s family.
According to the information received, Khanchand Singh was suffering from fourth stage liver cancer and his condition was very critical for the last few days. On February 21, due to his deteriorating health, he was admitted to the private hospital ‘Yatharth’ in Greater Noida. Where he was kept on ventilator support. According to hospital sources, he breathed his last at 4:36 am on Friday. After the official confirmation of the death at 5 in the morning, the family members left for their home country with the dead body.
As soon as Rinku Singh received the news of his father’s health deteriorating, he left the Team India camp in Chennai and immediately reached home. At an important stage of the T-20 World Cup, he left the practice session and came to his family. Fulfilling family responsibilities, Rinku again reached Chennai on 25th February and joined the team. However, yesterday (26 February) he was not a part of the playing eleven in the Super-8 match against Zimbabwe and was present in the dugout as a substitute player.
Rinku Singh’s father Khanchand Singh used to work in gas cylinder delivery. Due to poor financial condition of the family, all five brothers including Rinku used to help their father in work. He used to transport two cylinders loaded on the bike to homes and hotels.
“Rinku has struggled a lot even to play cricket. She had to raise money from friends in the house to buy balls. Today Rinku may be a star, but the foundation of her success is her father’s continuous struggle and sacrifice.” Rinku Singh’s success in IPL and international cricket has always been a topic of discussion due to his father’s blessings and hard work. A mountain of sorrow has fallen on Rinku Singh due to the death of his father.
