Indian Navy inducted DSC A20 Marathi News: Indian Navy (Indian Navy) is continuously strengthening its underwater capabilities. In this context, the country’s first indigenously made diving support craft (DSC A20) was formally commissioned into the Navy on 16 December 2025 at the Kochi Naval Base. This vessel is the first in a series of five diving support craft to be built under the ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative.

A big success for the Navy

The commissioning of DSC A20 is considered a significant step for the Indian Navy. The ship will play an important role in strengthening maritime security and underwater warfare capabilities. With the induction of this ship, the Indian Navy is now more capable of competing with the navies of China and other countries on the strength of its own indigenous technology.

Special Features of DSC A20

The DSC A20 is specifically designed for advanced underwater missions. The craft will assist the Navy in the following key operations:

  • Deep Sea Repairs: Repairing marine infrastructure.
  • Salvage: Retrieving sunken ships or objects.
  • Special Operations: Carrying out secret and special underwater missions.
  • Advanced Diving System: The vessel is equipped with a state-of-the-art diving system.
  • Saturation Diving: For prolonged work in deep water.
  • Hyperbaric Treatment: For treatment of divers.

With this indigenous craft, India has been able to carry out rescue and special underwater missions in challenging waters without any foreign assistance. This will strengthen the operational preparedness of the Navy in coastal and maritime areas.

The commissioning ceremony of DSC A20 was held on 16 December 2025 at the North Jetty of Naval Base Kochi.
