Indian-origin actress Poorna Jagannathan gets HBO's 'Lanterns'

Los Angeles: Indian-origin actress Poorna Jagannathan is all set to join the cast of HBO's 'Lantern'. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Poorna will have a role in the DC Studios and Warner Bros. TV show. Her character, Zoe, has been described as “a woman effortlessly confident and poised in any setting, and she is just as cool and cunning as the influential men around her.” Lantern is based on DC's long-running Green Lantern comics and stars Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre as Hal Jordan and John Stewart, respectively, two of the most famous characters in the long history of comics.

HBO picked up Lantern to series in June after several years in development. Chris Mundy (Ozark) is Lantern's showrunner and is co-writing the eight-episode season with Damon Lindelof (Lost, Watchmen) and Eisner Award-winning comics writer Tom King. He is executive producing with James Hawes, who is directing the first two episodes.
