New Delhi: A big news has come for Indian motorsport. Renowned Indian rally driver Naveen Puligila and experienced co-driver Musa Sharif are all set to take part in the third round of the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC), the WRC Safari Rally Kenya 2026. In this prestigious and challenging rally, both aim to once again achieve a podium finish in the WRC3 category.
Let us tell you, this Indian pair will participate for the third consecutive time in this difficult rally to be held in Naivasha area of Kenya from 12 to 15 March. Earlier, both of them had achieved podium finish in the WRC Rally Saudi Arabia in November 2025 by performing brilliantly in their class. With that feat they became the first Indian pair to achieve a podium finish in any WRC category.
Let us tell you, after recently winning the title of 3T Class National Championship by winning the Nashik Rally, Naveen Puligila will now present his challenge in the WRC3 category. In this rally he will drive a Ford Fiesta Rally 3 car prepared by Africa Eco Sports Nairobi. Along with him, experienced co-driver Musa Sharif will once again handle the pace notes. Musa Sharif has over 33 years of experience in rally sports.
After gaining experience of rallying in the difficult terrain of Africa last year, the pair is returning this time with better preparation and a clear goal. Safari Rally is considered to be one of the toughest rallies in the world, where dusty roads, big stones and suddenly appearing wild animals make the race extremely challenging.
Let us tell you, Naveen Puligila said about this rally that safari rally is the real test of both man and machine. He said that last time’s experience has taught him the importance of patience and strategy. According to him, the Ford Fiesta Rally 3 car and the expertise of the local team in Nairobi will help them perform well in this rally.
Co-driver Musa Sharif said that the routes of Safari Rally are very difficult and the track condition can change after every pass. In such a situation, it is very important for the pace notes to be accurate. He said the possibility of heavy rain could also make the rally more difficult.
The rally takes place around the Lake Naivasha region of Kenya, consisting of a total of 20 special stages. The entire rally distance is 1,205.46 kilometres, which includes a very challenging special stage of 338.34 kilometres.
It is noteworthy that the WRC Safari Rally Kenya 2026 is the third round of this season and is counted among the most difficult and prestigious events in the global motorsport calendar. A great performance is expected from the Indian pair this time too.
