Indian Railways: Big decision of the railway department regarding reserved coaches for the disabled
Indian Railways | The railway network in our India is very extensive. Millions of passengers travel by train every day in the country as rail travel is very cheap and great for long distance travel. From children to old people, everyone can sit in the train right away. While traveling by train, it is often seen that normal passengers also sit in the coaches reserved for the disabled. But now this kind of thing will not be tolerated. The Railway Board has announced the rules taking a clear and strict stand in this regard.
SLRD and LSLRD coaches at the front and rear of the train are specially reserved for disabled passengers. Railways have now given clear guidelines as to who can use these coaches. Indian Railways
As per Railway Board instructions, disabled citizens with UDID card (Unique Disability ID) can travel in these coaches. Also, disabled passengers who have been granted concessional fare by the Railways are also entitled to travel in these coaches.
The Railways has also clarified who is to be called a “Bonafide Passenger”. Only disabled passengers with valid UDID card and eligible for concessional fare can travel in these coaches. However, just having a card is not enough. They must have a valid railway ticket.
Meanwhile, cases of other passengers entering these coaches reserved for the disabled were frequently encountered. Due to this, the real needy were suffering. In this background, Railways has taken a strict stand. Indian Railways
Now, direct action will be taken under Railways Act 1989 against those traveling in these coaches without permission. This may include fines and other legal action. These rules have been tightened to ensure that passengers with disabilities can travel safely and with dignity. So it is very important for every passenger to follow the rules and use the right space.
