So that genuine passengers will be able to easily book tickets through IRTC. This new rule is being implemented in three phases.
Railways has decided to implement the exclusive booking window for Aadhaar authenticated users in three phases. This rule will be applicable only to online booking done through IRCTC website and mobile app. There has been no change in the rules for booking tickets from the railway counter.
New rule will be implemented in these three phases
- 29 December 2025: 4 hours special poetry (8 am to 12 noon)
- 05 January 2026: 8 hours special script (8 am to 4 pm)
- 12 January 2026: 16 hours special script (8 am to 12 midnight)
Benefits of linking IRCTC account with Aadhaar
After linking Aadhaar, you can book up to 24 tickets in a month. Since the information about passengers with Aadhaar authentication is already available in the master list, data does not have to be filled manually at the time of booking. This system prevents fake accounts and bots, thereby increasing the chances of genuine passengers getting confirmed tickets.

How to link IRCTC account with Aadhaar?
If you have not yet linked your Aadhaar with IRTC, you can do it easily by following these steps:
- Go to the official website of IRCTC (irctc.co.in) and login.
2.Customers click on ‘Link Your Aadhaar’ in the ‘My Account’ section on the homepage. - Enter your name and 12 digit Aadhaar number.
- An OTP will come on the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar, enter it and submit.
- They are successful when a green tick (verified) appears on your profile.
