Indian shot dead in Canada: Suspected of being linked to drug trade, police engaged in investigation
Ottawa. An Indian-origin man has been killed in a shooting allegedly linked to organized crime in Surrey, Canada. This information was received from local media news. According to local media, the incident took place on Saturday night at a townhouse complex in the Sullivan Heights area of Surrey, where a man was shot.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) said on Monday that the deceased has been identified as 27-year-old Jasman Sekhon. According to the report, “Sekhon had previous contact with the police and was suspected of being involved in the drug trade. Initial indications suggest that this was a targeted incident involving organized crime.”
According to eyewitnesses, Sekhon was first chased by a black SUV, after which two people in it got out and started firing at him. When officials reached the spot, Sekhon was found injured, but he could not be saved.
After the incident, a burning vehicle was also found nearby. Officers are investigating whether this vehicle is related to this incident. According to the report, Sergeant Freda Fong said, “Investigators are working diligently to determine the circumstances of the murder and identify all parties involved.” Four incidents of shooting have been reported in Surrey in the last 48 hours.
