A 27 year old Indian student, Sai Teja, is battling for life in the United States after suffering severe injuries in a road accident in Montgomery, Alabama.
According to reports, Teja was travelling back from a friend’s graduation ceremony when a minor driver allegedly rammed into the vehicle he was in. His friend Akhil, who was also in the vehicle, reportedly suffered only minor injuries and bruises.
Teja is currently undergoing treatment at Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery. Reports say he suffered a traumatic brain injury, stroke, fractured jaw and fractured left leg, and remains in intensive care.

According to a fundraising page started by relatives and friends, doctors have told the family that Teja faces a long and uncertain recovery. Even if he regains consciousness, he may require months of rehabilitation, including neurological care, physical therapy, speech therapy and specialized medical support.
Teja had moved to the United States as an international student and was reportedly looking for employment at the time of the accident. His family and friends are now seeking support as they deal with the emotional and financial burden of his medical emergency.
The incident has once again raised concern within the Indian student community abroad, where young international students often face limited family support, high medical costs and uncertain insurance coverage during emergencies.
The Obnews Editorial Team extends prayers and support to Sai Teja, his family and his friends during this difficult time, and hopes for his recovery.
