This Indian SUV created a stir in Europe, Skoda Kylaq can become the biggest enemy of China’s cheap cars.

Skoda Kylaq Price: After achieving tremendous success in the Indian market, Skoda Auto’s compact SUV Skoda Kylaq is now preparing to enter Europe. According to reports, the company’s parent company Volkswagen Group is planning to launch this made-in-India SUV in the European markets. At present, the dominance of China’s cheap cars is increasing rapidly in Europe. In such a situation, Skoda needs an SUV which can offer great features and powerful design at a low price. Kylaq, which was a superhit in India, fits this need perfectly.

Became a superhit within a few months of its launch

Skoda Kylaq was launched in India in January 2025. Within a few months of its launch, this SUV crossed the sales mark of 50,000 units. Today it has become Skoda’s best selling car and its share in the company’s total sales is said to be around 60%. It has made a strong mark in the sub-4-meter SUV segment. This is the reason why now the company is preparing to launch it in the global market.

SUV can be available at cheaper price in Europe

The starting price of Skoda Kylaq in India is around Rs 7.59 lakh, which is equivalent to approximately Euro 6,800. Whereas in Europe, the price of Skoda’s cheapest car Fabia starts from around 20,000 Euros. If the company exports Kylaq made in India to Europe, it can be sold for less than 20,000 Euros. In such a situation, it can become an affordable SUV option for European customers. This strategy can help Skoda in competing with Chinese companies.

Major changes will have to be made before going to Europe

However, sending Kylaq directly to Europe will not be easy. The safety and pollution rules of Europe are much stricter than India. The Kayak comes with a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine, but Europe has strict rules regarding carbon emissions. Apart from this, there are mandatory ADAS features like AEB, lane-keep assist and driver alert. This means that the safety and technology package of the SUV will have to be upgraded before its launch in Europe.

Make in India can get big strength

If Skoda Kylaq is launched in Europe, it will be considered a major achievement for India’s Make in India campaign. This will prove that cars made in India can now compete even in the most advanced markets of the world. In Europe, it will compete with cars like MG ZS, BYD Dolphin Atto 2, Leapmotor T03, Chery Omoda 5, Dacia Duster and Citroen C3 Aircross.
