Indian team announced for Champions Trophy 2025, Karun Nair did not get place
The selection committee headed by Ajit Agarkar on Saturday announced the 15-member Indian squad for the Champions Trophy 2025 and the ODI series against England. The team selection was as per expectations, but Karun Nair, who performed brilliantly in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, did not get a place in the team.
Ajit Agarkar's statement on Karun Nair's selection
Chief selector Ajit Agarkar said in the press conference, “Karun Nair is in great form, but there is limited space in the team. We have only 15 places and it is not possible to fit everyone.”
Nair scored 752 runs in seven matches in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, including five centuries and one half-century. His best score was 163 not out and strike rate was 125.96.
Yashasvi Jaiswal got his first chance
The selection committee has included Yashasvi Jaiswal in the ODI team for the first time. Jaiswal has been selected due to his consistent good performance at the domestic and international level.
Champions Trophy schedule and venue
The Champions Trophy 2025 will be held from 19 February to 9 March. The matches of this tournament will be played in three cities of Pakistan and Dubai. The Indian team will play all its matches in Dubai.
