New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India is the richest cricket board in the world. There is tough competition among big companies to become sponsors of the Indian team. Sponsor price breaks old records every time. But, the Indian team can enter Asia Cup 2025 without any sponsor.
‘Dream XI’ was the sponsor of the Indian cricket team for almost two years. The Government of India has brought a bill and banned companies falling within the scope of speculation. With this decision of the government, ‘Dream XI’ lost the eligibility to sponsor the Indian team and had to withdraw before the scheduled time. Dream Eleven had acquired sponsorship rights from 2023 to 2026 for Rs 358 crore.
Asia Cup 2025 starts from 9th September. There is one week left for the tournament to start. The Indian team will leave for UAE on 4th September for this event. In such a situation, there is very little chance of seeing any company’s logo on the jersey of the Indian team during the Asia Cup.
BCCI has started the process of finding a new sponsor for the Indian team. On Tuesday, the board has issued this related notice. The last date for receiving expressions of interest is 12th September and the last date for submitting bids is 16th September.
While inviting expressions of interest for new team sponsors, BCCI clarified that alcohol brands, betting or gambling services, cryptocurrencies, online money gaming, tobacco brands, or any product or service that may offend public morality are not eligible for bidding. The Indian team had entered the final of the World Test Championship 2023 without any sponsor.
