Indian women spinners again defeated Pakistan, Rising Women India ‘A’ defeated Pakistan by eight wickets in Asia Cup
Bangkok: Thanks to the brilliant spin bowling of captain Radha Yadav and a stormy unbeaten half-century by Dinesh Vrinda, India ‘A’ defeated Pakistan ‘A’ by eight wickets with 59 balls remaining in the Women’s ‘Asia Cup Rising Stars’ on Sunday. This is the first win of India ‘A’ women’s team in the tournament. The team had to face defeat by seven wickets against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) women’s team in the first match on Friday. With the win over Pakistan ‘A’, India ‘A’ women’s team has moved to second place in Group A after UAE.
India ‘A’ spinners put Pakistan under pressure by sharing five wickets among themselves with their accurate bowling. Pakistan team was out for just 93 runs in 18.5 overs. Radha (2 wickets for 11 runs in 3 overs) led the attack by taking two important wickets, while Prema Rawat (2 wickets for 16 runs in 3 overs) and Minnu Mani (1 wicket for 10 runs in 2.5 overs) ensured that Pakistan’s batsmen could not build any partnership. Fast bowler Saima Thakor bowled brilliantly and took two wickets for just 14 runs in her four overs.
Chasing a modest target of 94 runs to win, India got an initial blow when Humaira Kazi was dismissed on the very first ball but Vrinda turned the match around with a brilliant counter-attack. He hit 12 fours in 29 balls and scored unbeaten 55 runs, taking the match out of Pakistan’s grip. Vrinda got good support from Anushka Sharma.
Anushka played a composed innings of 24 runs in 26 balls and made a partnership of 78 runs for the second wicket. After Anushka’s dismissal, Tejal Hasbanis scored unbeaten 12 runs in five balls with the help of a six and a four, helping the team win in just 10.1 overs.
