Indian women’s cricket team will have to start from scratch for the World Cup: Harmanpreet Gujarati
The Indian women’s team’s victory in the three-match series against England will boost their confidence ahead of the ODI World Cup, but captain Harmanpreet Kaur said that after returning home, her team will have to make a fresh start for this global competition. Harmanpreet scored a century in the third and final ODI against England. India defeated England by 13 runs and won the three-match series 2-1. Earlier, the Indian team had won the Women’s T20 International series 3-2.
India will now face Australia in a three-match ODI series at home from September 14. After this, the Women’s ODI World Cup will be played in India and Sri Lanka from 30 September to 2 November. Harmanpreet said, ‘Whenever you win, your mindset becomes positive. Things like that keep you in a good position, but whenever you are playing the next match, you always have to start from the first ball and I think this series will definitely boost our morale. But when we return home, we will have to start from scratch.
The Indian captain credited the team’s hard work for this victory. He said, ‘Our team has been working hard for the last several years, the effect of which is now visible in the results. I am really happy that our players are coming forward and fulfilling their responsibilities. He is coming forward with a positive mindset and is working hard on his fitness.
