Indian women’s team created history at Lord’s, defeated England by 270 runs
The Indian women’s cricket team’s tour of England ended with a historic win. Team India performed brilliantly and won the only test match which started from 10th July. This match was special in many ways, because for the first time a women’s test match was played on the historic ground of Lord’s and India won this historic match. The Indian team created history by defeating England by a huge margin of 270 runs.
For the first time in the 142-year history of Lord’s, a women’s Test match was played and the Indian women’s team made the occasion truly memorable. Under the captaincy of Harmanpreet Kaur, Team India achieved a spectacular victory by defeating England by a huge margin of 270 runs on their own ground. India’s dominance was clearly visible in the entire match, be it batting, bowling or fielding, the team played much better than England in every aspect.

The Indian women’s team is in great form in red-ball cricket. In its last 11 Test matches, Team India has won 7, drawn 3 and lost just one. Moreover, this was the 11th Test match of the Indian women’s team on English soil and the surprising thing is that Team India has not lost a single women’s Test match there till now.

If we talk about the match, India’s dominance was seen from the beginning till the end. On the first day, England’s fast bowlers could not get the right line-length with the new ball and Smriti Mandhana took advantage of it. She batted brilliantly, while captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Deepti Sharma also scored excellent half-centuries to take India to a strong score of 285 runs. After this, Kranti Gaur wreaked havoc in bowling. He took five wickets and reduced England’s first innings to just 170 runs. With this, India got an important lead of 115 runs.

Even in the second innings, the Indian batsmen did not give England any chance to make a comeback. After scoring 83 runs in the first innings, Smriti Mandhana played a brilliant inning of 70 runs in the second innings also. After this, Yastika Bhatia scored a brilliant century of 113 runs and put the match completely in India’s hands. In the end, Richa Ghosh ended England’s remaining hopes by scoring unbeaten 50 runs in 52 balls.
The England team, which came to chase the big target of 457 runs, completely disintegrated in the second innings and was all out for 186 runs. Amy Jones was the only batsman in both the innings who struggled a bit. At the same time, the last Test of Heather Knight and Tammy Beaumont was not at all what they would have wanted at the end of their careers.
