Indians caught with illegal goods in Nepal…. Increased vigilance on the border, strict investigation is being done
New Delhi. Now SSB will be strict in checking documents related to identity of persons and permits of vehicles on India-Nepal Border. There will be thorough scrutiny of all types of documents at the border. Surprise and regular patrolling is being increased in the entire area of each BOP/Company/Battalion of SSB.
Persons and vehicles passing through blockade-check posts will have to undergo special screening. Equipment like CCTV, binoculars, NVD and thermal imager will be installed at different parts of the border. After the lapse was detected by Nepal’s Armed Police Force (APF) and Customs Department, strictness has been increased on the India-Nepal border.
Illegal goods had reached Nepal due to lack of proper inspection
Recently, such cases have come to light in which Nepal’s ‘Armed Police Force’ and ‘Customs Department’ caught Indian citizens with valuable illegal goods. The neighboring nation’s media reported that the captured Indian men had admitted that they had crossed the border post only after getting permission from the security forces deployed at the border. This matter also reached SSB. SSB DG has taken such lapses seriously. He told the responsible officers of the force, such incidents show that persons and vehicles are not being checked professionally on the India-Nepal border.
These instructions were given
– Verification of identity of all persons crossing the border and verification of vehicle permits should be ensured as per existing instructions and valid documents.
– No person or vehicle is allowed to cross the border without proper checking and search.
– Installation of other available technical equipment like CCTV, binoculars, NVD and thermal imager etc. should be ensured in the entire area.
– No person or vehicle will be allowed to cross the border without security check and search.
