The racer from Jammu and Kashmir will also be the only woman in the Mini category, which has a highly competitive grid of over 60 karts. As a newcomer, she will participate in all three WSK Championships this year – WSK Super Master Series, WSK Euro Series and WSK Final Cup. The first of these three races, the WSK Super Series Master Series, will be held over the weekend.
Atiqa said, “I am very excited to have this opportunity to drive in WSK with BabyRace. This will be the highest level of karting I have ever driven in. I have to learn a lot of circuits and driving in winter will be a challenge, but I am ready for it.” WSK is considered the pinnacle of karting attracting the best driving talent, top kart builders and engine builders from around the world. Reigning world champion Max Verstappen is one of the drivers who has raced in WSK in its early years.
Like Verstappen, Atika also comes from a racing family. His father Asif Nazir is India's first national karting champion and Formula Asia vice champion. Atiqa will join him at the competition in Italy this weekend. Atiqa’s father Nazir said, “Atiqa has been successful in reaching the highest level of karting through her hard work and dedication. It will be difficult for him to run in such an area. He will have to learn new tracks, new conditions and adapt himself to this new environment. “It will be a challenging and learning year for him.”
