‘India’s attitude…’: Sarfaraz Ahmed comments on India after tense U19 Asia Cup clash

NEW DELHI: Pakistan Under 19 team mentor Sarfaraz Ahmed has taken a swipe at India’s on field conduct following the Asia Cup final, a match that was played in a charged atmosphere and marked by several fiery exchanges between players from both sides.

Pakistan defeated India by 191 runs in the Under 19 Asia Cup final, but the contest was not short of tension, a familiar theme in India Pakistan encounters. The high stakes and emotions led to multiple verbal exchanges, with tempers flaring at different stages of the game.

Sarfaraz comments after the final

Speaking to the media after the match, Sarfaraz criticized India’s attitude during the game, while maintaining that Pakistan celebrated their victory in a respectful manner.

“India’s attitude during the game was not good & that their conduct on the field was unethical. We celebrated our win with proper sportsmanlike spirit. Whatever India did was their personal choice, but cricket should always be played with respect & sportsmanship,” Ahmed told the press.

However, such moments are not uncommon in high pressure India Pakistan matches, especially in finals where emotions often spill over.

Earlier this year during the senior Asia Cup 2025, India players were involved in a handshake controversy with Pakistan, an incident that was widely debated but also viewed by many as an isolated reaction in the heat of the moment.
