India’s big diplomatic victory: 2 ships filled with LPG will come to India through the Strait of Hormuz

New Delhi, 13 March. Amidst the ongoing crisis in West Asia, the impact of the talks held a day earlier between PM Narendra Modi and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar’s four telephone conversations with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi in the last few days has started to appear. In this sequence, Iran on Friday night has allowed India to take two LPG tankers through the Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian Ambassador Mohammad Fatahali had given hints in Delhi

Earlier on Friday, Iran’s Ambassador to India Mohammad Fatahali had indicated that India will be given safe passage for the movement of oil through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important sea routes. While talking to journalists, he had said that India is a friend of Iran and because of this, a positive situation may soon emerge for Indian ships to pass through this sea route.

Now news agency Reuters has reported that Iran has agreed to allow the passage of two LPG-laden ships coming to India through the Strait of Hormuz. It is noteworthy that after the war in West Asia, there is a shortage of LPG in India. However, the government has tried to meet the needs of consumers.

India is our friend

Iran’s Ambassador Mohd. Fatahali was invited as a special guest at the International Quds Day Conference here. Fatehi spoke to journalists after the conference. When the media asked him whether Iran would allow passage to Indian ships, he said, ‘Yes-yes, you people will see this happening in the next two-three hours. India is our friend and we work for common interests. There will be cooperation between the two countries in many areas.

Fatahali also said that India and Iran have very good relations. A day earlier, talks had taken place between high-ranking officials of the two countries. He said, ‘We pray to Allah to remove all kinds of problems. As far as allowing Indian ships is concerned, you will soon hear good news about it.

In fact, this is the first time since the beginning of the dispute in West Asia, when Iran has clearly said that it will give passage (through the Strait of Hormuz) to Indian ships. Earlier in the day, senior Indian government officials had told that 28 Indian ships were stranded on the Hormuz route for several days. Of these, 23 ships are in the western parts of Hormuz and four are in the eastern parts.

Later, sources in the Petroleum Ministry said that if all Indian ships get a way to pass through the Hormuz route, then the uncertainty regarding petroleum supply in the country can be removed to a great extent. With the emergence of the West Asia crisis, the Hormuz waterway remains closed.

Iran’s warning to America

Meanwhile, Iran has warned that it will not allow ships of America or any country supporting it to pass through there. So far, half a dozen ships have also been attacked. Due to this, energy crisis is being felt in almost all Asian countries including India. The prices of crude oil and natural gas have increased significantly in the last ten days. There has been a huge downward trend in almost all global capital markets including India. In such a situation, India can take a sigh of relief in every way by opening the Hormuz Strait.
