India’s big warning amid growing crisis in Iran, appeals to citizens to leave the country immediately

In view of the increasing tension between Tehran and Washington and the deteriorating security situation in Iran, the Indian Embassy in Tehran has issued a new advisory on Monday. In this advisory, all Indian citizens present in Iran have been appealed to consider leaving the country as soon as possible using available commercial flights or other means of transportation.

Keeping the seriousness in mind, advisory issued

The Embassy has taken this step keeping in mind the seriousness of the current situation, so that the safety of Indian citizens can be ensured from any possible threat. This new advisory is an extension of the earlier advisory issued on January 5, 2026. Even at that time, Indian citizens were advised to exercise caution and leave Iran if necessary, as the situation in the country remained tense due to anti-government protests and action by security forces.

In the latest advisory, students, pilgrims, businessmen and tourists have been especially advised to remain alert and move to a safe place as per the circumstances. The Embassy has clearly stated that all Indian citizens should stay away from protests, rallies and crowded areas and take extra precautions to avoid any untoward incident. Along with this, Indian citizens have also been asked to always keep their passports, visas and other identity related documents ready, so that they can travel immediately if required.

The embassy has also advised citizens to keep an eye on local news media and stay informed about the latest developments. Additionally, the Embassy has requested those Indian nationals who have not yet registered themselves to register their details on the official online portal of the Embassy as soon as possible. If internet service is disrupted, their family members present in India can also complete the registration process on their behalf. To provide assistance in case of emergency, the Embassy has also issued a helpline number and official email ID, so that the needy citizens can contact immediately.

Rapidly increasing geopolitical tension in the Middle East

A major reason behind this advisory is the rapidly increasing geopolitical tension in the Middle East. The conflict between America and Iran over the nuclear program is continuously deepening. US President Donald Trump has indicated in discussions with his senior officials that if diplomatic efforts fail, America may adopt the path of military action against Iran. According to reports, the US is considering the option of limited military action, which could be aimed at putting pressure on Iran and stopping its nuclear program.

However, diplomatic efforts are also ongoing to reduce tension. Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr Al-Busaidi has informed that the next phase of talks between the two countries is proposed in Geneva. He expressed hope that a solution can be reached through talks and military confrontation can be avoided.

Meanwhile, dissatisfaction seems to be increasing within Iran as well. In recent days, students in many universities demonstrated against the government and clashed with the administration. Even before this, large-scale protests were strictly suppressed by the security forces. These incidents have made the internal situation of the country more sensitive.

In view of all these circumstances, the Indian Embassy has issued this advisory giving top priority to the safety of its citizens and has advised them to remain alert and move to a safe place immediately if necessary.
