India’s clear statement amid tension on the Strait of Hormuz, no talks with America
Amidst the increasing tension in the Middle East, India has made it clear that it has not had any bilateral talks with the US regarding the security of oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz. This clarification has come at a time when Trump has appealed to many countries to deploy their warships to keep this strategically important sea route safe and open.
Which countries did Trump name?
Trump had also taken the names of countries like China, France, Japan, South Korea and the United Kingdom in this regard. In the inter-ministerial briefing organized by the Ministry of External Affairs, spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal clarified India’s position on this subject. He said that many countries of the world are discussing among themselves the issues related to the movement of oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz and Iran’s alleged interference in it, but India has not yet held any formal or bilateral talks with America on this subject.
He also said that India is constantly monitoring the situation and necessary steps will be taken if needed. Meanwhile, despite the increasing tension in the region, the movement of Indian ships remains normal. The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways informed that despite the current situation, there has been no major impact on maritime trade. According to the ministry, the process of freight movement is continuing smoothly and there is no report of any delay in unloading of goods or movement of ships at the ports.
Officials also said that Indian sailors are completely safe and no untoward incident has been reported in the area in the last 24 hours. Maritime security agencies are constantly monitoring the situation, so that any emergency can be dealt with immediately.
Indian ships status information
During this, information was also given about the status of some Indian ships passing through the area. It was told that the Indian ship ‘Shivalik’ has successfully crossed the Strait of Hormuz and reached Mundra port in Gujarat without any problem. Apart from this, another ship named ‘Jag Ladki’, which has left for India carrying crude oil from UAE, is moving safely and is expected to reach Mundra port soon.
According to officials, efforts are underway to maintain normal maritime activities despite regional tensions. Currently, about 22 cargo ships are operating in the western part of the Strait of Hormuz, indicating that the international trade route is still active and functioning.
