India’s condolences on Khamenei’s death: Foreign Secretary Misri reached Iranian Embassy and signed Condolence Book

Delhi. India on Thursday expressed condolences over the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri conveyed a message of condolence to the Iranian Ambassador in New Delhi.

Misri visited the Iranian Embassy and signed a condolence book on behalf of the Indian government. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) also released a picture of the conversation between the Foreign Secretary and Iran’s Ambassador to India Mohammad Fathali.

Khamenei was killed in an attack by Israel and America on 28 February. Although India called for dialogue and diplomacy to resolve the West Asia crisis, it chose not to react to Khamenei’s assassination.

Misri’s visit to the Iranian embassy and signing of the condolence book became significant as many opposition parties criticized the government’s inaction over Khamenei’s death.
