India’s daughters shine, 9 boxers reached the finals of Asian U-15 Championship
India’s Under-15 boxers performed brilliantly in the semi-finals of the Asian Boxing Under-15 and Under-17 Championships on Saturday (May 9) and reached the finals of nine weight categories. This championship is being held in Tashkent.
Akshita registered a spectacular win by RSC (stoppage of contest by referee) against Ayazan Marat of Kazakhstan in the 30–33 kg category. Anji (37kg) continued India’s stellar run with a lopsided 5-0 win over Uzbekistan’s Sarvinoz Riskulova, while Sonia (40kg) also registered an emphatic 5-0 win over Kazakhstan’s Diana Mendigaraeva.

These players also reached the finals
Tanvi won for RSC against Sejim Nurlubek of Kazakhstan in the 43kg category. Hansika Attri (46kg) defeated Yuhui Cheon of Korea from RSC. Sunaina (58kg) also registered a win over Kazakhstan’s Ardak Abdikhan from RSC. Bhumika won from RSC in the 61kg category against Chiao-Ying Chang of Chinese Taipei. Tanvi (64 kg) defeated Yasmin Joutkhanova of Kazakhstan 4-1 to reach the final.

5 boxers lost in semi-finals
India also faced some disappointment in the semi-finals. In the 35 kg category, Zia, despite a tough fight, lost 1-4 to Kyrgyzstan’s Malika Moldogazieva. Khushi Rana lost 0-5 to Uzbekistan’s Zbiniso Abdullayeva in 49kg, while Kanishka (52kg) also lost 0-5 to Kazakhstan’s Samal Tollepbergen. Ashvi (67kg) lost to Kazakhstan’s Nurgul Sakhi of RSC, while Manvi (+70kg) lost 0-5 to Uzbekistan’s Zahro Deniorova.
