YouTube Health Director Dr. Graham said, India's digital health innovation becomes global standard
YouTube Health Dr. Garth Graham, Director, said that in 2023, there were more than 6 million uploads of health videos in India, which were viewed more than 75 billion times. He said that the use of digital and AI technology in India has given a new dimension to access to healthcare.
Dr. Graham said that YouTube is emphasizing on making health information reliable and equally accessible despite linguistic and cultural barriers. The platform has partnered with health institutions such as AIIMS and NIMHANS to give prominence to certified health videos.
YouTube has also introduced a verification process for medical professionals, which will further promote quality information. Also, through the multi-language audio feature, health videos are being made available in many Indian languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi.
Dr. Graham said that the purpose of YouTube is not only to provide information, but also to inspire people to live a healthy life. He said that presenting complex information simply and effectively through video is extremely useful in a country like India, where linguistic diversity and literacy levels can be a challenge.
